Songs About Girls, Part 1
There was a good reaction to the video I posted yesterday of me singing Wilco’s I’m Always In Love, so I decided to upload a few more. I’ll be posting them occasionally here, usually with a different theme. When I used to perform, I had a mini-set, usually early in the night, where I would sing songs with girls names in the title. The reason was simple: if a girl in the audience had the same name, she would feel compelled to come up to me after my set and tell me how good it was.
What, you think I learned how to play guitar for the music?
Anyway, it never worked. But I still did them at nearly every gig I ever played, because they’re also great songs. Here are a couple of them.
Since everything on this blog seems to start with Bruce Springsteen, here’s Fourth Of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)

As long as I minimize my screen, it’s really, really good.
My favorite one that you used to sing is Allison. Do you ever play and sing the songs you wrote?
Thanks, Sue. I don’t play my own stuff anymore. I’ve wanted to try to write some songs that are better suited for me these days, but I haven’t come up with anything.
Alison is coming in Part 2.
