Morons
So I’m walking around DC this afternoon, and I pass by Posh, a fancy restaurant. Just inside the window was this sign.

On principle, I’m against dress codes because they’re elitist, and I’ve seen some that are so specific in what they don’t allow (baggy pants, baseball caps, etc.), that they basically say ”We don’t want black people.” But Jesus Christ, people, if you don’t know the difference between the plural and possessive, you have no business excluding anybody, especially when you got it right two words before! I can just imagine the conversation when they were creating the sign.
Hey Bob! How do you spell “jerseys?”
I think it’s “J-E-R-S-I-E-S,” Steve.
I don’t think so, Bob. That doesn’t look right.
Fuck it. Put an apostrophe somewhere.
Whoa. That really looks classy. That’ll keep out the riff-raff.
And don’t even get me started on the capitalization of “Gentlemen.”

your probably just jealous because there more classier than you
Yeah, and the food there probably sucks, too…
Sadly, it’s a growing epidemic, with more examples documented here. http://www.apostropheabuse.com/
The thing that really bugs me? I’ve seen apostrophes abused so much that I have to double-check my own work to make sure I haven’t committed the crime myself when I’m writing.
My 11th grade English teacher was a major stickler for grammar. She would fail any paper if there was a run-on sentence, no questions asked. You learn the rules quickly when that happens.
Well obviously, no one from New Jersey is allowed in there – or the Isle of Jersey, and certain breeds of cow.
My personal favorite – stores across the south that sell
FIREWORK’S.
Kevin stole my post. This is obviously anti-New Jeyseyite!
Whats most gauling is there use of a Glasgow School of Art-inspired font for the word “Posh”. Charles Rennie Mackintosh wants to know whose been stealing his work.
Um… you do realize that they utilize a sign company for those things, right?
And since we’re on the subject of grammar, did your 11th grade teacher “fail any paper” or did she fail the student who authored the paper?
By the way, Noebie’s reply was a hoot!
Um…you do realize that outside vendors will send back a draft version to be reviewed before it goes to final, right?
Very sly, Eric…
I saw the same thing at the Roxy in Boston. The website has this to say about dress code:
“NICE jeans are okay, no baggy jeans or ripped jeans, no sneakers no hats no timberlands no athletic wear no game jerseys”
More than vaguely racist? Yes, I do believe so. And also kind of crap in the grammar department. I sense a trend.
Yeah, exactly. They’re so specific that they might as well say, “We allow blacks, but only if they dress like white people.”
But no Timberlands? Are they going to shut down when it snows?
