Tuesday Morning Links – The Dumbassery Of Republicans Edition

Wow, I can’t think of another spell in recent memory  which so many prominent Republicans put his or her foot in their mouth on such a variety of subjects.  So, to recap it all for you, I’m devoting today’s TML to collecting them all in one place.

On this weekend’s Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me, White House Press Secretary Dana Perino admitted that, until last week, she was unaware of the Cuban Missle Crisis, and laughed about it!

It’s amazing what turns up when you gain in the national polls.  Mike Huckabee, heretofore thought to be a likeable, genuine and well-minded, if misguided, religious conservative, believed in 1992 that AIDS patients should be quarantined, long after it was concluded that it couldn’t be transmitted through casual contact.

Then there’s Mitt,  he of the lovely hair.  His speech about his faith, which was supposed to be a defining moment of his campaign, barely outlasted the news cycle.  At Slate, John Dickerson explains where Romney went wrong

With so much classic material there, I almost overlooked Rudy Giuliani’s Gigglefest about his numerous scandals on Meet The Press on Sunday.

And rather than actually say something stupid, Condoleeza Rice went all Alberto Gonzales when questioned about the CIA destroying videotapes of interrogations.

Finally, Mom sent me a link to this YouTube video of Keith Olbermann letting fly with another one of his brilliantly written rants about why Bush is unfit to serve as President after the news about Iran.

    1. Here’s a very different analysis on another area where Romney went wrong.

    2. And because I’m a fan of calling out dumbassery regardless of the party of the dumbass, I’d like to point out this week’s donkey dumbassery — the Dem silence on (or even support of) waterboarding when some of them, including Pelosi, have known about is since 2002.

  2. Yeah, that Dem silence is pretty maddening.

The entire GOP field for 08, save for McCain, is a joke. And even McCain lost all self-respect when he sucked up to Bush in 04 after what his team did to him in 00. If the Democrats can’t win the White House this time, they never will.
