How often does a satirical song perfectly capture a mood in this country, and it remains relevant for the next 35 years?  Ladies and gentlemen, damas y caballeros…I give you…Randy Newman.

Again I’m going to sound like the old fart reliving old times but I remember seeing Randy at Georgetown — out on the Lawn in front of White-Gravenor in 1973. He did “Political Science”, “Sail Away”, “Burn on Big River”, “You can leave your hat on”, “God’s Song” and many more. My favorite album though is “Good Old Boys” with “Rednecks”, “Louisiana 1927″,”Guilty” Mr President have pity on the working man”, Birmingham”,”The Kingfish” and many more. God I really like Randy Newman

I almost posted a performance of Rednecks, but decided against it. People have a habit of misinterpreting that one…

  3. Liverbird says:

Yeah satire that is really dead pan can be hard to understand. People probably think he loves LA and hates short people

In my case it’s the other way around…

Well, at least one short person – but I’ll bet I can find plenty of midgets that would piss you off.

Sometimes the midget I love is the one who pisses me off the most…
