Episode 36: The Mod Squad
So it took a few more days to get this out to you, but it’s a long one. Without Vullo, I really couldn’t call it The Summit, so The Mod Squad had to do. We recorded this nearly a month ago, only a few hours after I spoke with Glen Campbell when Keith came up from Florida to see Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello. I was hoping to keep it in reserve for a little longer, but with my planned guest for this week falling through (I’m in the process of rescheduling it), I had to bring it out.
Even though he had troubles staying on mic, Carter needs to get a blog or podcast of his own. But he just got married (congrats, pal!) so I’ll let he and his lovely bride settle in before I work on him about that. Until then, though, here’s his guest-blog review of the Costello show from the 9:30 Club back in May.
Keith, on the other hand, was much better at staying on mic than last time. Stick around after the closing song for an outtake of me harassing him for not liking Emmylou Harris’ brilliant Wrecking Ball CD.

Hey, at least my levels sounded better than yours do in your phone interviews! Next time, get me a microphone stand!
Seriously, it was fun and thanks for inviting me. I just created my own blog, finally. (It’s what all the kids are doing and I figured so what if everybody reads everything I think or do. The government can, anyway.) I’ll update it more this week.
Linc has been linked…
I just want to say that the Dirty South track you opened with is a total rip on Mr. Bojangles. In a good way.
Name? Hayes.
First name? LINCOLN.
Actually, I’m Pete.
And another thing, that thing about the two Buford Pusser references on TDS? I posted that when grits was groceries. Beer me already.
Sadly, the podcast died on me about ten minutes on. Nicely done to that point, chaps.
