Tuesday Morning Links – Giants and Patriots Edition

Well, we’re two weeks into the football season and, as a Giants fan, I don’t even need to wait until November to get that sinking feeling in my gut.  Kim, on the other hand, is watching her Patriots play like world beaters.  Of course, it helps when you know the other team’s signals (or when you play any team coached by Norv Turner).  So here’s today’s edition of TML dedicated to the two teams watched in our household.

One of the few joys of being a Giants fan is Ralph Vacchiano’s Blue Screen blog over at the Daily News.  Ralph and I went to college together my freshman year at Syracuse (wow, that was 20 years ago), so it’s good to see he still brings the snark.

Ralph’s colleague Gary Myers suggests that Tom Coughlin’s job could be in jeopardy, which would thrill these people.

At MVN, Hazem Kiswani asks if the Giants can recover.

Moving on to the Pats, at Slate, Charlie Pierce, a frequent panelist on NPR’s hysterical Wait Wait, Don’t Tell Me, suggests that the Patriots will go undefeated as a way of backing their head cheater coach.

Another friend of mine, Eric at Off Wing Opinion, mostly covers hockey, but he also branches out into other sports (we sit next to each other in the RFK press box).  Here, he embeds a great video about the Bill Belichick spying scandal.

Finally, over at Kissing Suzy Kolber, Big Daddy Drew offers $20 to anybody who will take out Tom Brady’s knees.

All right, since nobody else will bite, I’ll weigh in. As a long time Pats fan I am disappointed because it was such a cheap move and the risk/reward ratio is way out of whack. Do I think that other teams do this sort of thing, of course. But to have a guy with team credentials doing it is bush league. And Belichick’s response that “I thought it was OK as long as we didn’t use it for this game” was lame.

However, I’m sure other opposing coaches will do their best to muzzle their players after the Pats shut down LT who was still yapping about last year. His post game crying was delicious.
