Tuesday Morning Links – New Pornographers Edition

I’m declaring it New Pornographers Week here at Wings For Wheels (I have the power to do that.  It’s good to be the king).  Today, their new CD Challengers is being released to the delight of dozens of internet music geeks.  Since I am one of those geeks, I am dedicating today’s TML to them.

Go to their website and get a free download of “My Rights, Versus Yours” and stream the entire CD from their Myspace page.

New York magazine has an article about Carl Newman’s recent move from Vancouver to Brooklyn.  He’s looking forward to drinking with another WFW favorite, The Hold Steady.

The New York Times describes Newman’s wedding this past weekend, which was attended by Eugene Mirman and David Cross.

At Slant, Jonathan Keefe calls Challengers, “…their most diverse collection, one that speaks to the real breadth of its core members’ skill with all manners of pop styles…

Another positive review over at Treble.

Finally, leave it to Pitchfork to do their we-can’t-accept-bands-that-mature thing and give it a 6.0, a full three points lower than their rating for their previous albumTwin Cinema.
