Wings For Wheels

A few days after the death of Michael Jackson, I was contacted again by Whitman Publishing to work on another of their excellent limited-edition Vaults, and I am proud to see that it is now available!.

This was a collaborative effort. I wrote the biography text and the foreword, about 15K words in total. I also gave some input as to the sidebars which were written by others. The whole thing was done in about a week, and all of us involved with the project put in incredibly long hours to get this done in a timely manner. There were a few occasions where I sent off a chapter to my editor after midnight, only to find her still up and working.  To be honest, I haven’t seen the finished work, but given the devotion and talent of the people involved, I’m sure it’s every bit as good as our first effort.

On top of that, in a couple of months, I’ll be back in Vegas! It’s hard to believe it’s been over two years since my last trip. And this time, get this, I’ll actually be working it. Last year, three Vegas-centric podcasts run by friends of mine, Five Hundy By Midnight, Vegas Gang, and The Strip, hosted the first Vegas Podcast-A-Palooza, where they each recorded an episode in front of an audience at The Palms. I was hoping to go, but let’s just say that the timing of that was about as inconvenient for me as humanly possible.

Even without my presence, it was so much fun that they’ve decided to do another one in October! And, as befitting my tendency to overcompensate for missing it last year (you know, like when you don’t discover a band until their third album and then you become uberfan), I have volunteered to be the host for the event. You all should be more petrified than I am.

Finally, I’ve been talking with another website about a new project that will be a lot of fun. We’ve discussed this off and on for over a year, but we’ve now reached the point where it’s more a question of “when” rather than “if.” There are still a few more details to be ironed out.
