A Note About The Podcast
After three years and 61 episodes, I’ve decided to call an end to the podcast. I arrived at this decision yesterday after realizing I could no longer motivate myself to put forth the effort necessary to do the show every two weeks. As I said on the last episode, I had some ideas but I couldn’t bring them to fruition. The same held true for this week, and, after trying to figure out a way to not make it happen, found myself with virtually no alternative but to pull the plug. The blog will still be active, perhaps even more so.
You see, there are some podcasters, like Michael Butler, who can pull great shows out of their ass week after week with little to no preparation. Unfortunately, I’m not one of those people. I quickly learned that I needed to script as much as possible, even writing “I’m Dave Lifton” in the intro every episode because I would otherwise forget to say it. As a result, it takes hours of prep work before I even set up the microphone, and that’s where the problem comes in.
Since moving to Chicago, I’ve been spending a lot of time exploring the city, going out, making friends – all the things I didn’t need to do when I lived in DC. As a result, I’m not devoting the time necessary to put out the type of show that you’ve been accustomed to. Even carrying my laptop around town so that I could sit down at a coffee shop and work on a script didn’t work.
So thanks to everybody out there who has listened over the years. If you’re new to the show, I’m keeping all 61 episodes online, so now’s the chance go to the Archives and download any you missed. And I also want to thank to all the guests I had over the years – the authors, musicians, and friends – who helped make the show a success. It’s been a great ride, but unfortunately, it has come to an end.

I hear you. It’s why I no longer write a Chart Attack! and a Mellow Gold every week. That said, I’ll miss the podcast. Thanks for inviting me on, and making it such fun, both as a participant and a listener.
Loved the shows! A toast to new beginnings.
Salute! Skoal! A Votre Sante! L’chaim! Bottoms Up! (I know there’s quite a few more but I’ll embarrass you – or maybe myself) I’ll look forward to more info on the blog since I never tire of your writing.
I will say both my Mom and sister enjoyed Glen Campbell when I downloaded that episode and played it for them. You did a great job with it but on to new beginnings as a prior post stated.
